Distant Missions

Our goal for missions is to take the message of Jesus and make disciples of people who are beyond the Washington DC area. Fairfax Church of Christ seeks to be a mission-focused church supporting distant missions by:

– Equipping people to carry on the work independently.
– Developing expertise and involvement where God is opening doors.
– Engaging members to directly support evangelism and evangelistic humanitarian efforts.
– Equipping members with skills and mission opportunities.
– Partnering with effective ministries of other churches or organizations
– Providing prayer, encouragement, oversight and resources.

Fairfax currently focuses its resources in the below mission locations. We are excited about what God has done with missions at FXCC and we are eager to see what doors God will open in the future.

    Dominican Republic

Through our partnership with Manna Global Ministries (MGM), Fairfax supports a variety of outreach programs on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, including a children’s home, an urban outreach center, and Manna Christian School. MGM also runs a summer program that engages American teens to help meet the spiritual and physical needs in many Dominican communities.

Every year, our family at Fairfax also provides small Christmas gifts to hundreds of Dominican children through MGM’s Magi project (see below).

    Magi Project (Dominican Republic)

Each year as summer draws to a close, FXCC sets aside a day of worship and service to participate in the Magi project. Through Manna Global Ministries, churches, schools and organizations from across the United States pack and send small Christmas gifts to children in the Dominican Republic. For many of these children their Magi gift may be the only gift they receive at Christmas.

In conjunction with the Magi project, the Distant Missions team has sent groups from FXCC since 2008 to help distribute Magi gifts to children in the Dominican Republic. Each year the mission trip team spends a week serving side-by-side with our partners from Manna Global Ministries to be God’s heart to the global community.

The primary goal of this trip is to assist the missionary team in the Dominican Republic to distribute over 1,000 Magi gifts that are provided by FXCC and other groups throughout the United States. The group ushers in the Christmas season and spreads a lot of holiday cheer! In addition, the group also assists the missionaries with on-going outreach to local communities and discipleship efforts through Manna’s Children’s Home and Manna Christian School.

This opportunity is open to anyone willing to serve! There are no required skills or abilities, nor restrictions on age (young or old!). Families are especially encouraged to participate as this is a great opportunity for parents to serve and share with their children.

    Scotland

FXCC is excited to partner with the Peterhead Church of Christ in Peterhead, Scotland. This work continues to change in scope, all the while depending on God to work through His people in that congregation.
