We have several paid ministers and staff that help lead our ministry teams to live out our vision of becoming God’s heart. These ministers work to equip the body for the good works prepared in advance for us (Eph 2 & 4). Each senior minister is also partnered with a volunteer ministry leader to provide Ministry Leadership for the church.

Worship and Building Tech
Ben officially joined the FXCC staff in February of 2021 as overseer of Worship and Building Tech. We say “officially” because he’s been doing it for years! Ben’s love for FXCC is evident in the time he spends working behind the scenes – from improving the internet capabilities to making sure the livestream is working! We are excited to have Ben on board!
Outreach Coordination Minister
Jacob joined the FXCC staff in September of 2020 as the Outreach Coordination Minister. Jacob works to coordinate the Outreach ministries of FXCC, both local and distant, to help us be “God’s heart to this community” as we attempt to fulfill the Great Commission and follow the Greatest Commandment.
Jacob graduated from Harding University in 2015 (B.A. in Missions and Spanish) and then got married to Kelly and moved to Nashville, TN, where he attended Lipscomb University for graduate school (Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, 2017). He worked as a middle and high school educator the following three years before moving to Fairfax. Jacob is passionate about people and equipping them to carry out God’s mission of “on earth as it is in heaven.”
He loves spending time with Kelly and their dog, Nash; playing and watching soccer; movies and music; and anything that combines coffee, food, and friends.
Jill joined the FXCC staff in June of 2019 as Church Administrator.As Church Administrator, Jill works to connect all of the various ministries and coordinates the administrative duties of the church.
Jill is married to Steve Bitgood. They have two grown children, Brandon and Lindsay. She graduated from UMUC with a degree in Business Management in 1992. She worked as the Coordinator of Information Services at UMUC for 2 ½ years before becoming a stay at home mom. Jill homeschooled her two children from 2004 until 2017. When her youngest graduated in 2017, Jill came to Fairfax as a Preschool Teacher at Stepping Stones. Jill loves to travel, read, hike, camp,
and explore God’s creation.
Family Life Minister
Lead and Discipleship Minister
Phil McKinney II is the Lead and Discipleship Minister at the Fairfax Church of Christ in Fairfax, VA. Phil has over 30 years of ministry experience in Arkansas, Virginia, and through mission work in over 17 countries. Phil has also been a content creator and taught as an adjunct professor for Abilene Christian University, Harding University, Harding School of Theology, South College, and Toccoa Falls College. He holds degrees from Harding University (B.A.), Harding School of Theology (M.A.), and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ph.D., Discipleship and Family Ministry) and is completing a graduate certificate in Spiritual Direction from Loyola University Chicago. He has published articles in the Journal of Biblical Perspectives in Leadership and the Journal of Discipleship and Family Ministry. He authored a chapter in the book Practical Family Ministry from Randall House and his book D2: Becoming a Devoted Follower of Christ was released by Leafwood Publishers in the Spring of 2019. He is a ICF certified (ACC) life, leadership, and executive coach and also provides spiritual direction, pastoral care, and church/organizational leadership development. He is a certified practitioner of DISC, Motivators, EIQ-2, and Prepare/Enrich assessment tools. He is passionate about God and His Word and deeply desires to help others fall in love with Christ. Phil has been married to his wife Angie for over 27 years and they have three beautiful daughters Kaylee, Taylor, and Rylie.
Robin Gough joined Fairfax Church of Christ in September of 2016. He is married to Mary and they have 4 kids – Ethan, Brianna, Liam, and Ava. Robin served as the Campus Minister for the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ for 8 years before making the move to FXCC. A Louisiana native he loves to talk about all things Cajun, LSU, and the New Orleans Saints and will always enjoy talking about anything Tolkien or Star Wars! He is a graduate of Harding School of Theology and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Geaux Cajuns!).
Robin is passionate about helping the congregation experience God. He served at Fairfax as the Worship Minister till 2021, when the Elders realigned his role and responsibilities to serve as our Associate Minister. Robin leads the preaching rotation team as our primary preaching presence, has oversight of in-person and online worship, manages communications, and is involved in pastoral care.
