Sitting in the Ashes
If there is one thing we don't do well, it's lament. We--particularly us modern westerners--are uncomfortable with grief, suffering, and emotions of this magnitude. We don’t know what to do when faced with it, so we don’t do anything at all. Our church services are typically designed to be upbeat, happy, and positive. But this is different than what we see in scripture and in Jesus. Lament is a normal part of life. As disciples of Jesus, we don't grieve like those who have no hope. In this week's sermon, we will spend some time in lament and look to how we can be disciples to those around us by weeping with those who weep.
From Series: "Everyday Disciple"
What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus, and why does it matter? How are we live out being followers of Jesus in the spheres of our daily life? This five-week series looks at the important concept of discipleship and applies it to our work, neighborhood, social media, and hospitality.
Scripture References: John 11:1-32
