Fire
Fire is a consistent sign of God's presence in the Old Testament. The burning bush. The fire on Mt. Sinai. The fire of the Lord on Mt. Carmel. And then on the day of Pentecost, tongues of fire symbolizing the presence of God's Spirit.
From Series: "Self Portraits"
The Holy Spirit can be hard to understand. So when the Spirit inspired the writers of the Bible, He included self-portraits – visual portrayals of the invisible Spirit of God. Understanding these visuals – a dove, water, fire, and others – can provide insight into how God’s Spirit works in and transforms Christians today.

By What Power?
Coming off of the events of Pentecost, 'good living' marked the early church. This good living led to powerful opposition, which led to powerful prayer. And powerful prayer leads to Spirit-empowered ability to continue Good Living in the face of Powerful Opposition. No one is too far off to be used by the gospel. So often we can get lost in trying to sell our faith; instead, we should point people to Jesus and let him do the rest.
From Series: "Proclaim: The Gospel has Come"
This seven-week series examines seven sermons in the book of Acts. What did the early church’s first proclamations of Jesus look like? We will discover in them a consistent message of sin, grace, and salvation in the name of Jesus.
