Fall Family Series

What is FAMILY? When most of us hear those words we immediately go to husband, wife, and 2.5 children. Yet, if we don’t fit that mold we skip over and continue reading. However, when we hear the word FAMILY and consider it from God’s perspective, it should mean CHURCH. You see, we are a FAMILY. Dysfunctional at times (maybe all the time), but a FAMILY none-the-less. Each member of this family plays a vital role. Whether you are single, widowed, a young-married, an empty-nester, a step-family, a single parent, a teen, a child, the “typical” nuclear family (or anyone else I didn’t list), we ALL function together in the body of Christ as the FAMILY OF GOD.

This Fall we desire to bring OUR FAMILY together. It’s time for us (as a family) to LINK together in love and service to our FATHER. The Fall Family Series is designed to do just that. We ask and encourage you to come join this FAMILY and commit your Wednesday nights this Fall to a time of food, fellowship, family, and fun. We know you will be blessed. May God and HIS FAMILY come together in perfect unity!

We want YOU to join us this fall to connect with God’s Family here at Fairfax Church of Christ. This idea of FAMILY includes everybody—we want YOU to join us this Fall!

Volunteer Needs

Please consider joining us this Fall as a volunteer as well! We have set-up volunteer responsibilities so everyone should be able to attend at least part of the Fall Family Series. Here are the teams!

October Adult/Teen Facilitators

During the month of October everyone 6th grade and older will be divided into groups based on your particular age group. We are looking for a representative from that age group to partner with someone above their age group and co-teach. Our aim is to get to know the FAMILY in smaller units as we learn to be a family as a whole. Specifically, we hope these facilitators will lead each class to address these two questions: 1. What are our differences and similarities within this age group? 2. What do we have to offer to the FAMILY that no one else does?

Set-Up/Clean-Up

This team will coordinate with the Food Team to set-up and clean-up the fellowship area. We need a team lead to help recruit volunteers and to maintain a schedule from week to week. We also need volunteers to help each week. Concerned about regular attendance because of your work schedule? This could be a great place for you to serve when you are here!

Food

Rather than cater dinner, the Food Team will come together each week to prepare personal, home-cooked meals. This will be an excellent time to get to know more people in the FAMILY and share your culinary skills! Belinda Ostertag is coordinating the schedule and has some incredible ideas too! Be sure to give her a call and get excited!

Children’s Ministry

We are looking to parallel the main children’s portion with the adult portion upstairs—so we will have together time in September, age group classes in October and even gender-split classes in November. We are looking for praise leaders, prayer circle leaders, classroom teachers and helpers (especially for our cradle roll and Pre-K) and a few group leaders to head up the gender split classes. We can’t wait to get started!

Meeting at the Building? RESERVE YOUR ROOM!

So many people like to just "pop-in" to have a quick meeting at our building or have a group get-together. Please, please, please call the church office to schedule any meeting - however brief it may be - that you would like to have in our building. We try desperately to accommodate, but want to make sure the room you come to occupy has not already been booked for another group.

Building Security

With our new security system, usually only one door will be unlocked if there is only one activity in the building. Please check another door if the one you are at is not open. Check the light in the small box between the doors; IF IT IS RED – THE DOOR IS LOCKED. Please do not pull and pull to make the security system determine a break-in. The police will be notified. Thanks so much for your cooperation and respect of the new system.
